niedziela, 18 października 09:00In this episode of Behind the Music, originally aired in 1998, Gloria Estefan shares her journey from Cuban refugee to international music superstar. At an early age, she yearned for her father to come home. After being captured and imprisoned after the Bay of Pigs invasion of Cuba, he fought in Vietnam. When he finally reunited with Gloria and their family, he was ill and Gloria helped care for him. To decompress, she sang and played guitar. As a teenager, she met local bandleader Emilio Estefan. The two eventually fell in love and made Cuban music for the masses with the Miami Sound Machine. With the dance anthem Conga, they were launched into superstardom. But their time was almost cut short, after a near-fatal bus accident in 1990. A survivor, Gloria pressed on. And to date, she's released 17 albums. With new content.
