Stefano Montanari conducts the Orchestra and Chorus of the Opéra de Lyon in a performance of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's opera Die Entführung aus dem Serail ('The Abduction from the Seraglio', 1782). Set in a Turkish harem, the opera tells the story of the Spanish lord Belmonte and his beloved Constanze. Constanze and her servant Blonde are captured by pirates and sold to Bassa Selim. Assisted by his servant Pedrillo, Belmonte creates a plan to rescue Constanze. Among the soloists are Jane Archibald, Cyrille Dubois, Michael Laurenz, Joanna Wydorska, David Steffens, and Peter Lohmeyer. This performance was recorded at the Opéra de Lyon, France, in 2016.
