Waldbühne, Berlin. Sir Simon Rattle conducts the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra, which plays pieces by George Gershwin and Leonard Bernstein as part of a musical celebration of Americana. This concert was presented at the Waldbühne in Berlin, a green theatre based on the amphitheatre of the ancient Greek city of Epidaurus which is one of Berlin's favorite outdoor scenes because of its enchanting setting. This concert features talented soloists Willard White, Cynthia Haymon, Damon Evans, Cynthia Clarey, Marietta Simpson, and Daniel Washington. The program includes pieces from Porgy and Bess, "Rhapsody in Blue" and "I Got Rhythm" by Gershwin, as well as the opening of Bernstein's Candide.
